...DECEMBER WAS WARMER AND WETTER THAN NORMAL IN OMAHA...

WITH A VERY WARM STRETCH IN MID-DECEMBER...AND TEMPERATURES MAINLY
ABOVE NORMAL THROUGH MUCH OF THE MONTH...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN
DECEMBER WAS 31.5 DEGREES...WHICH IS 5.5 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.
WHILE THE MONTH OF DECEMBER WAS WETTER THAN NORMAL...THE MONTHLY
SNOWFALL OF 0.7 INCHES WAS 5.5 INCHES BELOW NORMAL.

AFTER A SLIGHTLY COOL START TO THE MONTH...TEMPERATURES ROSE ABOVE
AVERAGE IN OMAHA ON THE 4TH AND REMAINED THERE UNTIL THE 15TH.  ON
THE 13TH AND 14TH IN PARTICULAR...NUMEROUS RECORD WARM TEMPERATURES
WERE SET...INCLUDING DAILY RECORD WARMEST MINIMUM TEMPERATURES ON
BOTH DAYS...A RECORD WARMEST MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE ON THE 14TH...AS
WELL AS THE WARMEST MINIMUM TEMPERATURE EVER RECORDED IN DECEMBER.
THE MID-MONTH WAS MARKED BY LONG PERIODS OF CLOUDINESS...BUT
MEASURABLE RAIN HELD OF UNTIL THE 13TH.  THE RAIN TOTAL ON THE 13TH
THROUGH THE 15TH WAS 0.75 INCHES. BEHIND THE RAIN-PRODUCING STORM
SYSTEM...TEMPERATURES FELL BACK TO SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL READINGS
JUST BRIEFLY...WITH A GRADUAL WARMING BRINGING TEMPERATURES BACK
ABOVE NORMAL ON THE 18TH AS THE CLOUDY REGIME PERSISTED.  THE FIRST
MEASURABLE SNOW OF THE MONTH FELL ON THE 18TH...WITH 0.3 INCHES
FALLING. FROM THE 19TH THROUGH THE 28TH TEMPERATURES WERE WELL ABOVE
NORMAL. A WELCOMING RAIN OF 0.66 INCHES FELL ON THE 22ND WITH A FEW
LIGHT SNOWS THEREAFTER. THE MONTH OF DECEMBER ENDED COLD. ON THE
29TH THROUGH THE 31ST THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES WERE WELL BELOW
NORMAL WITH THE DAYTIME HIGH ON THE 30TH TOPPING OUT AT ONLY 7
DEGREES.
