...A WARMER AND SLIGHTLY DRIER AUGUST FOR ST PAUL ALASKA...

AUGUST 2016 BEGAN WITH A HIGH PRESSURE CENTERED OVER THE BERING SEA...WHICH BROUGHT
UNUSUALLY COOLER TEMPERATURES TO START THE MONTH. TEMPERATURES MODERATED BY THE END
OF THE FIRST 10 DAYS OF THE MONTH. A LOW PRESSURE BROUGHT BACK A SOUTHERLY
FLOW...ALONG WITH RECORD AND NEAR RECORD WARMTH...ALONG WITH SOAKING RAIN. A HIGH
OVER THE NORTHERN AND EASTERN BERING BY THE END OF THE MONTH BROUGHT EASTERLY TO
SOUTHEASTERLY FLOW TO THE PRIBILOFS...ALONG WITH MORE RECORD WARMTH TO END AUGUST.

WITH RESPECT TO TEMPERATURES...THE AVERAGE DAILY MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE WAS THE SECOND
WARMEST...THE AVERAGE DAILY MINIMUM TEMPERATURE WAS THE WARMEST ON RECORD...AND THE
AVERAGE MEAN DAILY TEMPERATURE CAME IN THE WARMEST ON RECORD. ONE LOW MINIMUM FOUR
HIGH MAXIMUM AND EIGHT HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET OR TIED AS
FOLLOWS:
