FLOOD STATEMENT

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers in
central and southern Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Muscatatuck River...Wabash River...White
  River...



.River flooding will continue into and past the coming holiday
weekend in western and southern Indiana.  Rainfall of 1 to 2 inches
on Tuesday caused renewed flooding in southeast and south central
Indiana.

Early this afternoon...significant flooding continued along most of
the Wabash River in western Indiana.  The secondary crest was at
Montezuma.  This crest is forecast to travel as far as Vincennes and
push river levels to heights seen in June.  Flooding along the
Wabash River will continue past July 10.

The secondary crest on the White River was at Spencer early Wednesday
afternoon.   Flood crests in Greene...western Knox and eastern
Daviess Counties will be similar to possibly a foot higher than
levels seen in June.  Flooding may end along White River in southern
Indiana by July 9.

Lowland flooding will continue in Jackson County through the coming
weekend.  River crests will be a foot higher than June levels in
southwest Jackson and much of Lawrence Counties.

Flooding continues to affect local river roads ... extensive
agricultural lands and possibly some residential areas.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

  The Wabash River at Lafayette.
* until further notice.
* At 11:31 AM Wednesday the stage was 19.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 19.7 feet by this
  afternoon. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* At 20.0 feet...Extensive flooding increases. Flood waters begin to
  cover Stair Road located on the southeast side of the river just
  off SR 225 in NE Tippecanoe County.  Low portions of Barton Beach
  Rd is flooded. Several river residences are nearly isolated by high
  water. River residences near Interstate 65 are affected by high
  water. River Road near River Bend Hospital floods.  Local roads
  begin to flood in the Granville Bridge area. River residents become
  concerned.

* until Thursday July 09.
* At 10:45 AM Wednesday the stage was 24.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  Thursday morning.
* At 25.0 feet...Many local roads are impassable.  High water backs up
  into Mud Run, cutting off some county roads just northwest of
  Covington.  North Sandhill Road begins to flood from Mallory
  Branch.  Mud Creek extensively floods W CR 260N and Sandhill Road
  by backwater from the Wabash River.

* At 10:45 AM Wednesday the stage was 26.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 26.1 feet by this
  afternoon then begin falling.
* At 26.0 feet...Extensive lowland flooding in progress.  Flood waters
  at the edge of SR 234 near Lodi just west of the bridge over then
  Wabash River.  At least one time the water started over SR 234 when
  Montezuma was 25.85 feet.  Several county roads in Fountain...Parke
  and Vermillion counties are flooded...some by more than 2 feet of
  water.

* At  7:49 AM Wednesday the stage was 25.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 26.1 feet by this
  afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage early Thursday
  morning.
* At 26.5 feet...Backwater from the Wabash River receded enough along
  Norton Creek to reopen North Main Street just south of SR 63.

* At 11:00 AM Wednesday the stage was 22.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  Friday evening.
* At 22.8 feet...On May 3, 2011 two home in West Terre Haute area
  affected by seep water.  River crested near 24.7 feet about 2 days
  before.

  The Wabash River at Hutsonville Legacy Power Plant Site.

* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is forecast to have a maximum value of 24.1
  feet this afternoon.
* At 24.0 feet...Extensive flooding is in progress.  Rural roads in
  eastern Clark and Crawford counties in Illinois are impassible.  A
  few mobile home residences and area along Hutson Creek just south
  of Hutsonville flood.  Flood is at critical level for most of
  levees.  Extensive seep water is behind levees.  Water surrounds
  residential areas of Riverton, Riverview, Hutsonville and eastern
  York.

  The Wabash River at Riverton.
* until further notice.
* At 11:00 AM Wednesday the stage was 23.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 23.3 feet by
  Friday early afternoon then begin falling.
* At 24.0 feet...Extensive flooding is in progress.  Most levees are
  at critical levels.  Water level near the top of a few levees.
  High water begins to affect residences in eastern Palestine,
  Illinois and those along East River road just southeast of
  Palestine.  Some evacuations are necessary. Rodeo area in Leaverton
  Park begins to flood.  Water near or over East River Road south of
  Palestine.

* At 10:45 AM Wednesday the stage was 22.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 22.5 feet by
  Sunday morning then begin falling.
* At 23.0 feet...Extensive flooding is in progress on the northside of
  Vincennes along Old Terre Haute Road.  Flooding affects local
  sawmill.  At least 1 family may move from their home.  The river is
  more than a mile wide at the Red Skelton Bridge.

* At  9:45 AM Wednesday the stage was 25.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to a stage of 24.7 feet
  by tomorrow morning.
* At 25.5 feet...Extensive lowland flooding in progress.  Much of the
  flood plain activity is affected by high water.  Numerous local
  river roads flood.

  The East Fork White River at Seymour.
* until Sunday afternoon.
* At 10:45 AM Wednesday the stage was 16.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 16.7 feet by this
  evening. The river will fall below flood stage early Sunday
  morning.
* At 16.4 feet...State Road 258 remained open after the river
  rebounded quickly to this level in June 2010.  State Road 258 had
  been flooded a few days earlier after river crested at 17.9 feet.

  The East Fork White River near Rivervale.
* from late Friday night to late Monday night.
* At 11:30 AM Wednesday the stage was 14.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Saturday morning and continue
  to rise to near 21.0 feet by Sunday morning.the river will fall
  below flood stage by Monday afternoon.
* At 20.5 feet...Lawrenceport Road just east of Lawrenceport and on
  the south side of river begins to flood around this level.  By 22
  feet this road is impassable.  During typical floods in this
  area...this portion of the road can be flooded by 5 to more than 10
  feet of water.  During the January 2005 flood...this area would
  have been near the "bottom" of the river...underwater by nearly 17
  feet.  In the great March 1913 flood...more than 25 feet of water
  would have covered this location.

  along the river.  Residential property is not directly at this
  point.

  evening. The river will fall below flood stage Friday morning.
* At 19.0 feet...Road south of river gage begins to flood.  Gosport
  Road closes.  Extensive agricultural flooding is in progress.  Moon
  Road in very rural northwest Monroe County is extensively flooded.

* At  8:00 AM Wednesday the stage was 22.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 23.4 feet by
  tomorrow early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
  Saturday morning.
* At 23.5 feet...CR 100N leading to Shawnee Field floods.  High water
  affecting other roads near the White River in Greene County also.
  Extensive flooding of river bottomlands.

* At 11:30 AM Wednesday the stage was 16.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 17.2 feet by
  tomorrow evening. The river will fall below flood stage Saturday
  morning.
* At 17.0 feet...Flood waters blocks access and begins to surround
  about 5 to 10 river cabins on south side of the river just
  southwest of Newberry.

  The White River at Edwardsport.
* until late Sunday night.
* At  7:00 AM Wednesday the stage was 19.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 19.8 feet by
  Friday early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
  Sunday early afternoon.
* At 20.0 feet...Water is at Critical levels for makeshift levees.
  Most of bottomlands flood.  Old Vincennes road and State Road 358
  between Plainville and Edwardsport are impassable by several feet.
  High water surrounds river cabins.  This type of flood occurs on
  average about once a year.

* At 11:30 AM Wednesday the stage was 17.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 18.6 feet by
  Sunday early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
  Monday before midnight.
* At 19.0 feet...Low bottomlands flood and flooding begins on higher
  bottomlands.  State Road 257 may begin to flood if Shoals gage
  reading is over 17 feet.  Private levees may be overtopped in many
  cases.

* Forecast...The river is forecast to have a maximum value of 18.8
  feet early Monday morning.
* At 19.0 feet...Flood waters cover the Hazleton softball field.
  Pottsville Road is underwater and impassable.
