Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW Idaho and SE Oregon
National Weather Service Boise ID
308 PM MDT Mon Aug 21 2017

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH FOR LIGHTNING IN EFFECT WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT...

.DISCUSSION...Dry conditions will continue through mid-day Tuesday,
as a weak ridge of high pressure builds northwestward from Utah.
Meanwhile, southerly flow on the backside of this upper level
ridge will allow moisture to track northward into the area. This
moisture will help spur isolated showers and thunderstorms (LAL 3)
along (and just north of) the Nevada border Tuesday afternoon and
evening. The threat of convection will increase on Wednesday, as
an approaching Pacific cold front aids instability. This front
will help generate isolated-to-scattered thunderstorms Wednesday
afternoon through late Wednesday night. Storms are expected to
produce rainfall, with 0.10 to 0.60 inches possible under storm
cores.
