FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA
AND EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
246 PM EDT WED AUG 31 2016

.DISCUSSION...AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE CONTINUES TO
PULL NORTHEAST AWAY FROM THE REGION. HOWEVER...PLENTIFUL MOISTURE
...AN APPROACHING COLD FRONT FROM THE NORTHWEST AND A TROPICAL
SYSTEM MOVING UP FROM NORTH FLORIDA WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE
ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS AND SHOWERS THURSDAY AND SCATTERED TO
NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS...SOME POSSIBLY SEVERE AND HEAVY RAINFALL
ON FRIDAY. STRONGEST THREAT FOR SEVERE WEATHER AND HEAVIEST
RAINFALL IS EXPECTED IN THE CENTRAL TO EASTERN MIDLANDS AND IN
THE PEE DEE ON FRIDAY.

POOR DISPERSION DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS TONIGHT DUE TO A
GENERALLY WEAK PRESSURE GRADIENT. SURFACE AND TRANSPORT WINDS
THURSDAY WILL GENERALLY BE FROM THE SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST AT LESS
THAN 10 MPH. WINDS WILL THEN SHARPLY INCREASE OUT OF THE EAST
TO NORTHEAST AS THE TROPICAL SYSTEM APPROACHES LATE THURSDAY
NIGHT INTO FRIDAY WITH GUSTS WELL ABOVE 25 MPH. MINIMUM RELATIVE
HUMIDITY WILL BE NO LESS THAN 45 PERCENT THURSDAY...WITH DRIEST
AIR IN THE PIEDMONT AND NORTHERN CSRA AND WILL BE MUCH HIGHER
IN A SATURATED TROPICAL AIRMASS ACROSS THE REGION ON FRIDAY.
