Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
227 PM CDT Wed Jul 26 2017

.DISCUSSION...

Isolated to scattered shower and thunderstorm activity that
formed this afternoon should dissipate shortly after sunset. Given
locally heavy rainfall with recent shower activity, patchy late
night fog formation is possible, especially in and near areas that
received wetting rain. Otherwise, one last day of very warm to hot
conditions are forecast for Thursday, with high temperatures rising
into the low/mid 90s. Minimum afternoon relative humidity values
should be reduced into the mid 40s to mid 50s percent range, with
corresponding heat index values above 100 for much of Northern
Alabama. Resulting instability from the heating and high moisture
levels will lead to isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms,
mainly in the afternoon and early evening. Erratic gusty winds, very
heavy rainfall, and frequent lightning could accompany the stronger
storms.

Chances for more showers and thunderstorms will increase Thursday
night and especially during Friday, as a cold front approaches the
area from the north. This front will bring widespread shower and
thunderstorm chances during Friday. Dry and slightly cooler
conditions will prevail for the upcoming weekend.

Generally Good to Good smoke dispersion rates are forecast during
Thursday, with mixing heights in the 6000-7000 feet above ground
level range. With more clouds and rain, Fair to Generally Good
dispersion rates are forecast on Friday.

Fog potential over the next few days: patchy fog formation is
possible before daybreak both Thursday and Friday mornings, mainly
in and near areas that have received recent, wetting rainfall. Any
fog that forms should dissipate shortly after sunrise.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: none at this time.
