Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
358 AM CST Sun Jan 21 2018

.DISCUSSION...

Dry conditions are forecast across the region through the
evening, as high pressure to the east controls the weather.
This high will gradually shift further to the east, as a
system forming over the Rockies takes shape. A surface low
with this system will head towards the Great Lakes, bringing
a cold front across Northern Alabama during Monday. This next
system will bring widespread showers and a few thunderstorms
to the region. Some of the storms could become strong to
marginally severe in intensity, with wind gusts the main
threat.

Generally near breezy conditions are expected Monday and
Monday night, with southerly winds 10-20 mph, gusting to 30
mph especially in the higher elevations on Monday, become
southwesterly, then westerly late Monday night. Generally
Good smoke dispersion rates are forecast across most of the
region today, with Fair rates over far NE Alabama. Fair
dispersion rates are forecast on Monday.

Rainfall amounts from this system should range from one half
to three quarters of an inch.

Fog potential over the next few days: Not at this time.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
