FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR WEST TEXAS/SOUTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIDLAND/ODESSA TX
344 AM CDT WED MAY 4 2016

.DISCUSSION...

A WARMING AND DRYING TREND WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE AREA OVER THE
NEXT WEEK...WITH LOWEST RH/S EXPECTED ALONG AND WEST OF THE PECOS
RIVER...WHERE GRASSES ARE STILL CURED. WHILE WINDS LOOK TO BE BELOW
CRITICAL LEVELS...THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FRIDAY FOR ISOLATED DRY
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE WEST THAT COULD PRODUCE GUSTY WIND IN
ADDITION TO LIGHTNING. THUNDERSTORM CHANCES SPREAD EAST ACROSS THE
AREA SATURDAY AND SUNDAY...ALONG WITH INCREASING SOUTHERLY WINDS
WHICH COULD YIELD GREATER FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS.

&&

FOR POINT-SPECIFIC FORECASTS PLEASE SEE THE POINT FIRE WEATHER MATRIX
