NWS ALASKA PACIFIC RIVER FORECAST CENTER ANCHORAGE AK
1120 AM AKDT TUE SEP 23 2014

...FLOOD POTENTIAL...

WATER LEVELS IN THE UPPER AND MIDDLE KENAI RIVER REMAIN ELEVATED
FROM ALL THE RAIN THAT FELL LAST WEEK. KENAI KEYS AND SKILAK LAKE
WILL FALL BELOW ACTION STAGE BY EARLY MORNING TUESDAY. THE DRY
WEATHER AND COOL TEMPERATURES THIS WEEK WILL ALLOW WATER LEVELS TO
FALL UNBATED.

FLOOD POTENTIAL IS LOW OVER THE REST OF THE STATE.

...HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION...

THE RIDGE OVER THE SOUTHWEST WAS TRAMPLED SEVERELY BY A CLOSED LOW
ENTERING THE NORTHWEST ON MONDAY. THE ASSOCIATED FRONTAL BAND
CONTINUES ITS MOVEMENT EAST ACROSS THE NORTHERN MAINLAND ON TUESDAY
SPREADING RAIN AND OR SNOW SHOWERS. THERE WERE A COUPLE OF OTHER
LOWS... ONE IN THE WESTERN BERING AND ANOTHER IN THE EASTERN PACIFIC
BUT WILL EFFECT THE STATE VERY LITTLE OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS.
HOWEVER MOISTURE BEGINS TO STREAM NORTHEAST OVER THE SOUTHERN
SOUTHEAST ON WEDNESDAY CREATING STEADY RAIN THROUGH THURSDAY.

FREEZING LEVELS TUESDAY MORNING RANGED FROM THE SURFACE OVER MUCH OF
THE INTERIOR AND NORTH SLOPE TO NEARLY 5000 FT OVER THE SOUTHERN
MAINLAND. OVER THE COASTAL LOCATIONS RANGED FROM 4400 FT AT KODIAK
TO 8100 FT AT ANNETTE. FREEZING LEVELS AT THE SURFACE EXPAND FURTHER
SOUTH AND EAST INTO THE THE YUKON TERRITORY WEDNESDAY MORNING.
