.NOW...

A RATHER DRY AND SUPPRESSED ATMOSPHERE WILL KEEP RAIN CHANCES LOWER
THAN USUAL THIS AFTERNOON. MOST AREAS WILL REMAIN DRY UNTIL BOUNDARY
INTERACTIONS BEGIN TO TAKE PLACE OVER THE INTERIOR. A FEW SHOWERS AND
PERHAPS A THUNDERSTORM WILL DEVELOP ALONG THE SEA BREEZE AS IT
CONTINUES TO MOVE WEST PAST I-95. ISOLATED LIGHTNING STORMS WILL
DEVELOP LATER THIS AFTERNOON AS THE EAST AND WEST COAST SEA BREEZE
BEGIN TO INTERACT. A FEW OF THE THUNDERSTORMS COULD PRODUCE STRONG
GUSTY WINDS...FREQUENT LIGHTNING...AND BRIEF HEAVY RAINFALL.

HEAT INDEX VALUES THIS AFTERNOON ARE IN EXCESS OF 100 DEGREES ACROSS
MUCH OF THE AREA. THE HEAT INDEX IS A MEASURE OF HOW HOT IT FEELS
WHEN THE EFFECT OF HUMIDITY IS COMBINED WITH THE TEMPERATURE. TAKE
EXTRA PRECAUTION THIS AFTERNOON IF YOU PLAN TO SPEND AN EXTENDED
AMOUNT OF TIME OUTSIDE. REMEMBER TO BEAT THE HEAT AND CHECK THE
BACKSEAT.
