SOUTHERN WASHINGTON CASCADE FOOTHILLS...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PORTLAND HAS CANCELLED THE HIGH
WIND WATCH.

EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING
AS ARCTIC AIR PUSHES IN FROM THE NORTHEAST. WHILE IT WILL BE WINDY
WITH LOCAL GUSTS UP TO 50 TO 60 MPH LATER TODAY THROUGH TUESDAY...
MOST OF THE CASCADE FOOTHILLS WILL REMAIN BELOW THE HIGH WIND
WARNING CRITERIA OF 58 MPH. THERE MAY STILL BE ISOLATED POWER
DISRUPTIONS DUE TO DOWNED TREE LIMBS...BUT DAMAGE SHOULD NOT BE
WIDESPREAD.

TUESDAY FOR THE GREATER PORTLAND AND VANCOUVER METRO AREA...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PORTLAND HAS ISSUED A WIND
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 6 PM
PST TUESDAY. THE HIGH WIND WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* WINDS: EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS 45 MPH.
  LOCAL GUSTS AS HIGH AS 55 MPH FOR EXPOSED LOCATIONS NEAR THE
  COLUMBIA GORGE AND IN THE WEST HILLS.

* TIMING: WINDS WILL INCREASE MONDAY AFTERNOON...AND REACH THEIR
  STRONGEST MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY MORNING...THEN DECREASE BY
  TUESDAY EVENING. THE EXCEPTION MAY BE NEAR THE COLUMBIA GORGE...
  WHERE EAST WINDS MAY CONTINUE TO GUST 40 TO 50 MPH TUESDAY
  NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: PORTLAND...VANCOUVER...CAMAS...WASHOUGAL...
  TROUTDALE...BEAVERTON...HILLSBORO...OREGON CITY...GRESHAM

* IMPACTS: THESE WINDS WILL CAUSE SOME SCATTERED TREE DAMAGE...
  POTENTIALLY LEADING TO A FEW POWER DISRUPTIONS AROUND THE METRO
  AREA. THE STRONG AND GUSTY EAST WINDS WILL ALSO CAUSE TRAVEL
  PROBLEMS FOR TRUCKS...TRAILERS...AND OTHER HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES
  ESPECIALLY ON BRIDGES CROSSING THE COLUMBIA RIVER.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE
31 TO 39 MPH OR GUSTS WILL RANGE BETWEEN 45 AND 57 MPH. WINDS OF
THESE MAGNITUDES MAY CAUSE MINOR PROPERTY DAMAGE WITHOUT EXTRA
PRECAUTIONS. MOTORISTS IN HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES SHOULD USE
CAUTION UNTIL THE WINDS SUBSIDE.
