...MEDFORD OREGON WEATHER REVIEW: NOVEMBER 2017...

November 2017 was warmer than normal, with precipitation just under
the average for the month. While the first day of the month was warm
and dry, numerous systems began impacting the region beginning on
the 2nd and continuing through the rest of the month. These fronts
produced several periods of rain, and temperatures tended to
fluctuate, alternating between a week of cooler than normal values,
and roughly a week of warmer than normal values. While the cool
periods did not produce any daily records for lows, the warmest
period later in the month produced three daily high records. The
first of these was on the 21st, when Medford reached 70 degrees,
breaking he old record of 67 set in 1974. The next day on the 22nd,
the high reached 72 degrees, breaking the old record of 68 set in
1926. A few days later on the 26th, highs reached 64 degrees,
breaking the old record of 63 set in 1938.

With so many systems passing over the valley, measurable rainfall
occurred on 17 days during the month. When considering days that
also recorded just a trace of precipitation, rain fell on at total
of 22 days, leaving only 8 completely dry days during the month.
Despite the numerous wet days, Medford precipitation still ended
slightly below normal for November.

The average temperature for the month was 46.0 degrees, which is 1.3
degrees above normal. The average maximum temperature was 53.6
degrees, which is 0.6 degrees above normal. The average minimum
temperature was 38.4 degrees which is 2.0 degrees above normal. The
highest temperature for the month was 72 degrees on the 22nd. The
lowest temperature for the month was 26 degrees which occurred on
the 18th.

There were 4 clear days, 10 partly cloudy days, and 16 cloudy days.

Total precipitation for the month was 2.87 inches, which is 0.15
inches below normal. Total precipitation for the water year
(beginning October 1st) is 3.76 inches which is 0.39 inches below
normal. Calendar Year precipitation is 17.28 inches which is 2.42
inches above normal.

The average wind speed for the month was 3.0 mph. The fastest
recorded two-minute wind was 31 mph from the southeast on the 8th.
The peak wind was 38 mph from the southeast which occurred on the
12th.

The highest pressure for the month was 30.47 inches on the 29th. The
lowest pressure for the month was 29.59 inches on the 15th.
