COAST ON MAY 8TH. ANA MOVED NEAR CAPE FEAR ON MAY 9TH. THE CENTER OF
ANA TRACKED WEST ALONG THE I-95 CORRIDOR THROUGH EAST-CENTRAL NORTH
CAROLINA FROM THE AFTERNOON ON THE 10TH THROUGH THE 11TH. THE STORM
TOTAL RAINFALL ACCUMULATIONS ARE FROM MAY 8TH THROUGH MAY 11TH.



D. INLAND FLOODING...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
LENOIR...ONE NEIGHBORHOOD ALONG THE BORDER OF LENOIR/JONES COUNTY
WAS IMPACTED BY INLAND FLOODING ADJACENT TO THE SOUTHWEST CREEK. THE
AREA RECEIVED FIVE TO SEVEN INCHES OF RAIN FROM TROPICAL STORM ANA
WHICH LEAD TO THE RISE OF SOUTHWEST CREEK. AUTHORITIES INDICATED
ABOUT TEN HOMES WERE CUT OFF BY THE HIGH WATER WHICH RANGED FOUR TO
FIVE FEET DEEP IN PLACES. THE SOUTHWOOD VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
USED THEIR BOAT ON MONDAY, MAY 11TH, TO REACH PEOPLE THAT WERE
STRANDED ALONG OWENS SMITH ROAD. NO DAMAGE ESTIMATES ARE AVAILABLE
AT THIS TIME.

A WATERSPOUT FORMED OVER THE CROATAN SOUND DURING THE AFTERNOON
HOURS OF MAY 11TH THAT TRACKED NORTHEAST OVER ROANOKE ISLAND CAUSING
DAMAGE TO A FEW TREES AND THE ROOF OF ONE HOUSE. ONE AWNING AND ONE
STREET SIGN WERE ALSO DAMAGED. THE WATERSPOUT WAS SEEN BY THE PUBLIC
AS IT CROSSED FROM THE CROATAN SOUND INTO SOUTHERN MANTEO. THE
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS WERE ESTIMATED AT 80 MPH. NO FATALITIES OR
INJURIES WERE REPORTED.
