Rangeland Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Aberdeen SD
415 AM CDT Thu Sep 21 2017

.DISCUSSION...

Much warmer air will return today, as high pressure exits to the
east, and an area of low pressure nears from the southwest.
Temperatures will top out in the 80s on breezy southerly winds.
Relative humidity values will be lowest again west of Pierre, around
20 percent. The lower humidity values will not align with the higher
winds though, as winds diminish west of the Missouri River by mid
afternoon.

An elongated area of low pressure will set up from south central
South Dakota into northwestern Minnesota late tonight through Friday
night. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible along and east of
this boundary. A few of the storms could be strong to severe late
tonight, and again late Friday afternoon into Friday night. An
extended period of wet weather will bring significant rain to far
eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota. Rainfall totals of 2 to
around 4 inches are expected from early Friday morning into Monday,
highest southeast of a line from Watertown to Ortonville.

are usually lower and the relative humidity is higher.

The outlook for Friday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low to moderate category.
