GRASS FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
505 AM CDT SUN MAR 26 2017

...ELEVATED FIRE THREAT WEST OF A JACKSBORO TO COMANCHE LINE LATE
THIS AFTERNOON...

FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS ARE DEPENDENT ON THE LOCATION OF THE DRYLINE
THIS AFTERNOON. MOST GUIDANCE BRINGS THE DRYLINE INTO OUR WESTERN
COUNTIES IN THE LATE AFTERNOON HOURS. HOWEVER, IF THE DRYLINE IS
SLOWER TO ARRIVE, WIND SPEEDS BEHIND THE DRYLINE MAY BE
DECREASING, WHICH WOULD LOWER THE OVERALL FIRE WEATHER THREAT.
BASED ON THE CURRENT FORECAST THAT THE DRYLINE ARRIVES LATE THIS
AFTERNOON, WIND SPEEDS BEHIND THE BOUNDARY WILL BE 15-20 MPH. WITH
HUMIDITY VALUES IN THE 20S BEHIND THE DRYLINE, THIS WOULD YIELD A
FEW HOURS OF AN ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER THREAT WEST OF A JACKSBORO
TO COMANCHE LINE. THE MOST LIKELY TIME FRAME FOR AN ELEVATED
THREAT WILL BE BETWEEN 3-7 PM. IF WIND SPEEDS ARE A LITTLE
STRONGER BEHIND THE DRYLINE, A SHORT WINDOW OF CRITICAL FIRE
WEATHER CONDITIONS MAY EXIST BETWEEN 3-6 PM.

EXTREME CARE IS URGED DURING ALL OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES WHERE THERE
IS A POTENTIAL FOR GRASS FIRES TO GET STARTED. AVOID OUTSIDE
BURNING AND WELDING. DO NOT TOSS LIT CIGARETTE BUTTS OUTSIDE.
REPORT WILD FIRES TO THE NEAREST FIRE DEPARTMENT OR LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICE QUICKLY.
