TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

For the central North Pacific...between 140W and 180:

1. Showers and thunderstorms associated with an area of low
pressure located around 1550 miles east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii
continue to show signs of organization. Environmental conditions
are expected to support further development, and a tropical
depression is likely to form by this weekend as it continues
toward the west-northwest at 15 to 20 mph.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...70 percent

2. A surface trough located about 550 miles south of Hilo, Hawaii
is tracking toward the west-northwest around 10 mph. Scattered
thunderstorms continue to develop along the trough, but show
little signs of organization. Environmental conditions are
expected to inhibit tropical cyclone formation over the next
couple of days.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent

Elsewhere, no tropical cyclones are expected through Saturday
evening.
