...SEVERE WEATHER WRAP UP FROM OCTOBER 2 2014...

A STRONG STORM SYSTEM MOVED ACROSS THE MIDSOUTH THURSDAY OCTOBER
2ND. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MEMPHIS ISSUED NUMEROUS
WARNINGS BEGINNING SHORTLY AFTER 3:00 PM LASTING WELL INTO THE
OVERNIGHT HOURS. THE LAST WARNING EXPIRED AT 1:30 AM. TORNADO
WATCHES WERE IN EFFECT BEGINNING AT 5:45 PM AND WERE CANCELLED AT
1:30 AM OCTOBER 3RD. IN TOTAL THERE WERE 30 WARNINGS ISSUED BY NWS
MEMPHIS INCLUDING 12 TORNADO WARNINGS AND 18 SEVERE THUNDERSTORM
WARNINGS.

VERIFICATION OF THESE WARNINGS IS ONGOING. WE ARE CURRENTLY
EVALUATING AT LEAST 4 AREAS OF SUSPECT TORNADO DAMAGE TO DETERMINE
IF DAMAGE SURVEYS ARE NEEDED. THESE AREAS INCLUDE:

1 CRAIGHEAD COUNTY ARKANSAS NEAR LAKE CITY AND JONESBORO. A
POSSIBLE TORNADO WAS SIGHTED... SOUTH OF LAKE CITY. A SEMI TRUCK
HAULING CHICKEN PARTS WAS OVERTURNED AND POWER POLES AND TREES
WERE TOPPLED.

2 TATE COUNTY MISSISSIPPI NEAR STRAYHORN AND SENATOBIA. DAMAGE
WAS REPORTED AT STRAYHORN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND THERE WERE
MULTIPLE REPORTS OF TREES DOWN.

3 PEMISCOT MISSOURI NEAR STEELE AND RIDGELY. A POSSIBLE TORNADO
WAS REPORTED ON THE GROUND AND A HOME WEATHER STATION RECORDED AN
85 MPH WIND GUST.

4 ITAWAMBA AND TISHOMINGO MISSISSIPPI NEAR THE ALABAMA STATE
LINE. ROTATION WAS NOTED ON RADAR AND DAMAGE WAS REPORTED TO
MULTIPLE HOMES AND TREES WERE DOWN JUST ACROSS THE ALABAMA STATE
LINE IN RED BAY.

WE PLAN TO COORDINATE WITH NWS HUNTSVILLE ON THE 4TH AREA OF
DAMAGE.
