...RECORD DAILY MAXIMUM RAINFALL SET AT PENSACOLA...

 A RECORD RAINFALL OF ESTIMATED 4.92 INCHES WAS SET AT PENSACOLA
TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 3.33 SET IN 1918.

EXPLANATION FOR ESTIMATE:

THE CALENDAR DAY RAINFALL VALUE FOR APRIL 30, 2014 AT PENSACOLA
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT KPNS HAS BEEN ESTIMATED TO BE 4.92, WHICH IS A
NEW CALENDAR DAY RECORD FOR THE DATE. THE PREVIOUS RECORD FOR APRIL
30 WAS 3.33 IN 1918. RAINFALL DATA AT PENSACOLA EXTENDS BACK TO 1880.

THE AUTOMATED SURFACE OBSERVING SYSTEM (ASOS) AT KPNS LOST POWER
SHORTLY AFTER 9:00 PM LST LAST NIGHT, RESULTING IN MISSING RAINFALL
DATA FOR MUCH OF THE MORNING. HEAVY RAINS DID OCCUR DURING THE TIME
OF MISSING DATA THIS MORNING AT THE NWS CLIMATE SITE AT PENSACOLA
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THIS 4.92 INCH ESTIMATE IS BASED ON DUAL
POLARIZATION RAINFALL DATA FROM THE NEARBY WSR-88D LOCATED AT EGLIN
AFB (KEVX).
