...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EDT THIS MORNING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of southeast Virginia, including the following
counties and independent cities, City of Hampton, City of Newport
News, City of Poquoson, James City and York.
* WHEN...Until 700 AM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 106 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor
flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the
advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Newport News, Hampton, Patrick Henry Field, Christopher
Newport University, Seaford, Langley AFB, Hampton University,
Gloucester Point, Northampton, Tabb, Beaconsdale, Denbigh,
Fort Eustis, Lee Hall, Buckroe Beach, Grand View, Fort
Monroe, Oyster Point, Dare and Oriana.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
