Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions are expected this afternoon across western and southwest Nebraska, particularly across zones 204, 210, 219, and southern portions of 206. Following the passage of a cold front this afternoon, relative humidity values will fall to around 15 to 20 percent. Winds will shift from the south to the northwest, with gusts of 45 miles per hour or greater. Questions remain on how much the recent rainfall and green up may temper fire weather concerns, however areas of dry fuels will be susceptible this afternoon. Otherwise, chances of wetting precipitation remain across most of western and north central Nebraska through the weekend, as showers and thunderstorms are possible every day. .REST OF TODAY...
