Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Northern IL and Northwest IN
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
324 AM CDT Mon Apr 22 2024

.DISCUSSION...

There is an elevated fire danger today. Relative humidity values
are expected to fall to around 20 to 25 percent this afternoon. At
the same time, southwesterly winds will gust up to 35 mph across
northwest Illinois, and to 25 mph across northwest Indiana.

A few light showers or sprinkles will develop tonight, with
steadier and more widespread wetting rainfall developing on
Tuesday morning south of about I-80. There is a chance for a few
thunderstorms area-wide Tuesday afternoon. Westerly winds will
gust to 35 mph north of I-80 as well. Thereafter, a cold front
will move across the area Tuesday night, shifting winds to the
northeast for Wednesday. Onshore winds will suppress temperatures
and mixing heights for lake adjacent locales on Wednesday, and
then lakeside across northeast Illinois on Thursday and Friday. An
active and periodically stormy pattern is expected to develop
Friday through the upcoming weekend.
