Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Northern IL and Northwest IN
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
350 PM CDT Mon Apr 22 2024

.DISCUSSION...

An elevated fire danger continues through the remainder of this
afternoon, with relative humidity values currently sitting between
15-25% at most locations and southwesterly winds gusting to 25-35
mph, highest across northwest Illinois and lowest across northwest
Indiana.

A few light showers or sprinkles will develop tonight, with
steadier and more widespread wetting rainfall developing on
Tuesday morning south of about I-80. There is an area-wide chance
for a few thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon into the evening.
Westerly winds will gust to 35 mph north of I-80 as well, with
southwesterly gusts closer to 25-30 mph farther to the south.
Thereafter, a cold front will move across the area Tuesday night,
shifting winds to the north or northeast for Wednesday.

Onshore winds will suppress temperatures and mixing heights for
lake adjacent locales on Wednesday, and then lakeside across
northeast Illinois on Thursday and Friday. An active and
periodically stormy pattern is expected to develop Friday through
the upcoming weekend.
