AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WAS CENTERED IN THE RED RIVER VALLEY LATE
THIS MORNING...WITH A COOL FRONT TRAILING SOUTHWEST AND A WARM
FRONT TO THE SOUTHEAST. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WHICH HAD
AFFECTED NORTHWEST MINNESOTA THIS MORNING HAVE MAINLY DIMINISHED
OR MOVED INTO ONTARIO. A LINGERING AREA OF SHOWERS STRETCHED FROM
HALLOCK AND WARROAD SOUTHWEST TOWARD GRAND FORKS. A FEW
THUNDERSTORMS HAD RECENTLY DEVELOPED NORTH OF REDWOOD FALLS. SKIES
WERE GENERALLY MOSTLY CLOUDY OVER THE NORTHERN HALF OF THE
STATE...WITH MOSTLY SUNNY TO PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES IN THE SOUTH. AT
11 AM TEMPERATURES RANGED FROM THE UPPER 50S NORTHEAST...TO NEAR
80 DEGREES SOUTH CENTRAL.

THE LOW AND ASSOCIATED FRONTS WILL MOVE THROUGH MINNESOTA THIS
AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME
WIDESPREAD NEAR THE LOW CENTER AND ALONG THE COOL FRONT THIS
AFTERNOON...WITH A CHANCE OF ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS
NEAR THE WARM FRONT AS IT PROGRESSES NORTHWARD. SOME OF THE STORMS
MAY BE STRONG OR SEVERE. THE MAIN RISKS ARE LARGE HAIL...GUSTY
THUNDERSTORM WINDS...AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL. A TORNADO OR TWO
IS POSSIBLE...WITH THE HIGHEST RISK OVER SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA. THE
STORMS WILL DIMINISH IN INTENSITY LATER TONIGHT...BUT THE THREAT
OF HEAVY RAIN WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT. AFTERNOON
TEMPERATURES WILL CLIMB INTO THE MIDDLE 60S ALONG THE LAKE
SUPERIOR SHORE...AND THE MID TO UPPER 80S SOUTHEAST. LOWS TONIGHT
WILL RANGE FROM THE LOW 50S NORTHWEST...TO THE UPPER 60S SOUTHEAST.

THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL GRADUALLY DIMINISH LABOR DAY MORNING
AS THE LINE MOVES INTO WISCONSIN. A PERIOD OF DRIER WEATHER IS
EXPECTED THROUGH MIDDAY. A FEW ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS
ARE POSSIBLE ONCE AGAIN DURING THE AFTERNOON...WITH THE BEST
CHANCE OF RAIN FOUND OVER THE SOUTHEAST. TEMPERATURES WILL REACH
THE UPPER 60S NORTH AND THE UPPER 70S SOUTH.
