A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS TRACKED EASTWARD ACROSS EAST CENTRAL
MINNESOTA DURING THE LATE EVENING AND EARLY MORNING HOURS OF
SATURDAY JULY 18TH. AN INTENSE BOW ECHO...AND ASSOCIATED DOWNBURST
WINDS CAUSED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE IN A RURAL COMMUNITY WEST OF THE
TOWN OF GOODHUE.

9 MILES WEST OF GOODHUE...OR 2 MILES EAST OF HIGHWAY 52 ON COUNTY ROAD 9.

END TIME: 117 AM CDT
END LOCATION: NEAR COUNTY ROAD 9...WEST OF COUNTY ROAD 8. OR APPROXIMATELY
7.5 MILES WEST OF GOODHUE.

SURVEY SUMMARY:

SEVERE DOWNBURST WINDS CAUSED DAMAGE TO A BARN AND OUTBUILDING
INITIALLY. FARTHER EAST...THERE WAS NUMEROUS TREES BLOWN DOWN AND A
EMPTY GRAIN BIN DESTROYED. ALL OF THE EVIDENCE SHOWS CROP DAMAGE AND
TREES BLOWN FROM THE NORTHWEST TO THE SOUTHEAST...INDICATING
DOWNBURST WINDS. BASED ON THE SURVEY DAMAGE...THE HIGHEST WINDS WERE
AROUND 80 TO 85 MPH.
