...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR THE MARCH 6, 2017 ZIMMERMAN AREA TORNADO...

.OVERVIEW...

There was an EF1 tornado in Sherburne County the evening of
March 6, 2017. The tornado touched down 5 miles west of
Zimmerman, Minnesota at 6:36 PM CST and traveled northeast
8.9 miles. It dissipated before reaching Highway 169. This
was a strong EF1 with a maximum wind speed of 107 mph, causing
damage to homes and many trees to snap.

The National Weather Service of Chanhassen, MN would like to thank
spotters, storm chasers, emergency management, and local media for
reports and assistance provided during the storms and while
conducting the survey.
