URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN MN
924 PM CST SUN DEC 14 2014

...WINTRY MIX ON THE WAY FOR MONDAY...

.RAIN WILL DEVELOP EARLY ON MONDAY ACROSS WESTERN MINNESOTA IN
RESPONSE TO A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVING NORTHEAST FROM THE
CENTRAL PLAINS. THE RAIN IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE TO FREEZING RAIN
AND SLEET DURING THE LATE MORNING IN THE WILLMAR...MONTEVIDEO...
CANBY...AND REDWOOD FALLS AREAS. ICE ACCUMULATIONS MAY REACH A
QUARTER OF AN INCH BY MONDAY AFTERNOON THERE. THIS MAY RESULT IN
VERY HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET
WILL MOVE INTO CENTRAL MINNESOTA...AS WELL AS LOCATIONS TO THE
WEST OF THE TWIN CITIES MONDAY AFTERNOON. THESE AREAS ARE NOT
EXPECTED TO HAVE AS MUCH ICE ACCUMULATION. BY LATE AFTERNOON...THE
WINTRY MIX WILL CHANGE TO SNOW ACROSS WESTERN MINNESOTA AND
PROGRESS EASTWARD DURING THE EVENING. SNOW AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 4
INCHES ARE EXPECTED. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS
WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA IF THE WINTRY MIX CHANGES TO
SNOW EARLIER IN THE DAY.

IN ADDITION...NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE ON MONDAY WITH SPEEDS
FROM 20 TO 30 MPH AND GUSTS TO 40 MPH. THIS MAY RESULT IN POWER
OUTAGES...ESPECIALLY IN AREAS WITH ICE ACCUMULATION.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT ON MONDAY AND MONDAY
NIGHT FOR AREAS OF MINNESOTA ALONG AND WEST OF A LINE FROM LITTLE
FALLS TO ST JAMES. A WINTER STORM WARNING COVERS A SMALL AREA
FROM WILLMAR TO REDWOOD FALLS AS WELL AS MONTEVIDEO AND CANBY.
