URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...SIGNIFICANT TRAVEL IMPACTS DUE TO SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW FOR
MUCH OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA AND WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN
TODAY AND TONIGHT...

.SNOW WILL SPREAD INTO SOUTHERN MINNESOTA BY 9 AM AND REACH THE
TWIN CITIES AND ADJOINING AREAS OF WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN AROUND
NOON. THE SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY ACROSS THESE AREAS DURING THE
LATE MORNING AND AFTERNOON HOURS AND PERSIST INTO THE EARLY
EVENING. THE EVENING COMMUTE WILL BE DIFFICULT. NORTHEAST WINDS
WILL BE ON THE INCREASE TODAY WITH SPEEDS OF 25 TO 30 MPH ACROSS
SOUTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA. THIS WILL RESULT IN BLIZZARD CONDITIONS
DEVELOPING ACROSS THE FAR SOUTH BY LATE THIS MORNING AND LASTING
THROUGH MUCH OF TONIGHT.

SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES ARE FORECAST ALONG AND
SOUTH OF A LINE FROM REDWOOD FALLS...TO MINNEAPOLIS...TO LUCK
WISCONSIN BY LATE THIS EVENING. THE HEAVY SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS
COMBINED WITH BRISK NORTH WINDS WILL RESULT IN CONSIDERABLE
BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

A BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR TODAY AND TONIGHT FOR
AREAS OF SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA...GENERALLY ALONG
AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM REDWOOD FALLS...TO MANKATO...TO
OWATONNA...WHERE SUSTAINED WINDS OF 25 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO
45 MPH ARE EXPECTED TO REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO LESS THAN ONE
QUARTER MILE. A WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT ALONG AND EAST
OF A LINE FROM GRANITE FALLS...THROUGH THE TWIN CITIES METRO...TO
LUCK WISCONSIN. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT TO THE
NORTH OF THE BLIZZARD AND WINTER STORM WARNING AREAS. TWO TO 6INCHES

  IN BLOWING SNOW. SIGNIFICANT DRIFTING OF THE SNOW IS LIKELY.

* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES ARE EXPECTED. THE
  HIGH END SNOW AMOUNTS WILL BE ALONG THE I-90 CORRIDOR.
