THE NORTHWEST AVALANCHE CENTER HAS ISSUED AN AVALANCHE WARNING...

TIMING... 4 AM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH 4 PM WEDNESDAY JANUARY 19TH.

LOCATION...THE OLYMPICS AND NW WASHINGTON CASCADES...INCLUDING THE
MT BAKER AREA

AVALANCHE DANGER...THE AVALANCHE DANGER IS EXPECTED TO BECOME HIGH
IN THESE AREAS WITH A NATURAL AVALANCHE CYCLE LIKELY BEGINNING
TUESDAY MORNING. TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMENDED
TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY.

REASON...INCREASING HEAVY RAIN AND SNOW TUESDAY MORNING WILL ADD A
SIGNIFICANT LOAD TO EXISTING WEAK LAYERS FORMED DURING THE RECENT
COLD WEATHER. SNOW CHANGING TO RAIN WILL CAUSE A NATURAL AVALANCHE
CYCLE TUESDAY. ALSO...STRONG SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL BUILD NEW AND
UNSTABLE WIND SLAB ON LEE SLOPES AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS TUESDAY
THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.
