...A HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IS IN EFFECT FOR PANHANDLE AND FRANKLIN
COUNTY BEACHES THROUGH EARLY THURSDAY MORNING...

.A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL LIFT OUT OF THE SOUTHEAST TODAY
AND DRAG A COLD FRONT ACROSS NORTH FLORIDA. AHEAD OF THE
FRONT...STRONG SOUTHERLY FLOW HAS GENERATED LARGE SURF AND
THE THREAT FOR STRONG RIP CURRENTS. IT WILL TAKE AT LEAST ALL DAY
TODAY FOR SURF HEIGHTS AND DEADLY RIP CURRENTS TO SUBSIDE BEHIND
THE FRONT.

EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EST /3 AM CST/ THURSDAY.

* LOCATION...PANHANDLE BEACHES.

* SURF...5 TO 7 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL HIGHER SETS.

* BEACH FLAGS...EXPECTED TO BE AT LEAST RED...WITH DOUBLE RED
  LIKELY. DOUBLE RED FLAGS MEAN BEACHES ARE CLOSED.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

RIP CURRENTS ARE POWERFUL CHANNELS OF WATER FLOWING QUICKLY AWAY
FROM SHORE...WHICH OCCUR MOST OFTEN AT LOW SPOTS OR BREAKS IN THE
SANDBAR AND IN THE VICINITY OF STRUCTURES SUCH AS GROINS...JETTIES
AND PIERS. HEED THE ADVICE OF LIFEGUARDS AND THE BEACH PATROL. PAY
ATTENTION TO FLAGS AND POSTED SIGNS. IF YOU BECOME CAUGHT IN A RIP
CURRENT...SWIM PARALLEL TO SHORE. ONCE YOU ARE AWAY FROM THE
FORCE OF THE RIP CURRENT...SWIM BACK TO THE BEACH. DO NOT ATTEMPT
TO SWIM DIRECTLY AGAINST A RIP CURRENT. EVEN A STRONG SWIMMER CAN
BECOME EXHAUSTED QUICKLY.

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF WILL AFFECT BEACHES IN
THE ADVISORY AREA...PRODUCING RIP CURRENTS AND LOCALIZED BEACH
