Flood Statement

.River levels continue to rise as water from upstream routes down
through the Wapsipinicon River system. Major flooding is ongoing at
Independence, with significant flooding expected downstream through
the next week.

River forecasts include past precipitation and forecast rainfall for
the next 24 hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and find an
alternate route. Turn around, don`t drown.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Wapsipinicon River at Independence.
* Until Wednesday morning.
* At  4:30 PM Sunday the stage was 15.4 feet and rising.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring.
* Recent activity...the river continues to steadily rise.
* Forecast...Rise to 18.5 feet Monday morning. Fall below flood stage
  Wednesday morning.
* Impact...At  18.0 feet water affects 1st Street and reaches the
  bottom of the Iowa Highway 150 bridge deck.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Wapsipinicon River near Anamosa Shaw Rd.
* Until Friday evening.
* At  4:15 PM Sunday the stage was 8.4 feet and rising.
* Flood stage is 14.5 feet.
* No flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage Tuesday morning and continue
  rising to 21.9 feet Wednesday. Fall below flood stage Friday
  evening.
* Impact...At  21.6 feet County Road X64 between Oxford Junction
  and Oxford Mills is closed.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Wapsipinicon River near De Witt 4S.
* Until further notice.
* At  4:30 PM Sunday the stage was 10.9 feet and falling.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* No flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Recent activity...the river level is falling after an initial crest
  Saturday night.
* Forecast...the river will begin rising at mid-week, and should reach
  flood stage Thursday. The river will continue rising to 13.3 feet
  next weekend.
* Impact...At  13.0 feet water affects many residences along the
  river.
