FLOOD STATEMENT

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers in
western and southern Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Muscatatuck River...Wabash River...White
  River...



.Widespread lowland flooding will develop by the weekend along the
Wabash...White...East Fork White and Muscatatuck Rivers. River crests
will range from bankfull in central Indiana to nearly 7 feet above
flood stage along the Wabash River in western Indiana.  Flooding will
persist from Monday in central Indiana to early February in southwest
Indiana and southeast Illinois.  At this time significant flooding is
not forecast.

Rainfall will exceed an inch on Thursday evening and night in most
of the state.  Additional rain will return during the weekend and
early next week. Precipitation totals of 1 to 3 inches have fallen in
central and southern Indiana since January 10.

High water will continue to affect fallow agricultural fields, river
parks, local and a few state roads in the days ahead.



Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

  The East Fork White River at Seymour.
* UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
* At 10:45 AM Wednesday the stage was 11.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by this afternoon and continue to
  rise to near 13.6 feet by tomorrow early afternoon.
* At 15.0 feet...Lowland agricultural flooding in progress.  County
  road 725 N (near Rockford) floods.  Indiana 258 east of Cortland
  may flood.  On December 8 2014...about an inch of water flowed over
  Reddington Street near the East Fork White River Bridge as the
  river crested.

  The East Fork White River near Rivervale.
* FROM MONDAY MORNING TO Thursday January 26.
* At 11:30 AM Wednesday the stage was 16.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Monday morning and continue to
  rise to near 21.2 feet by Tuesday evening.  The river will fall
  below flood stage by Thursday morning.
* At 20.5 feet...Lawrenceport Road just east of Lawrenceport and on
  the south side of river begins to flood around this level.  By 22
  feet this road is impassable.  During typical floods in this
  area...this portion of the road can be flooded by 5 to more than 10
  feet of water.  During the January 2005 flood...this area would
  have been near the "bottom" of the river...underwater by nearly 17
  feet.  In the great March 1913 flood...more than 25 feet of water
  would have covered this location.

* UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
* At  4:30 PM Tuesday the stage was 18.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 20.2 feet by
  Monday before midnight then begin falling.
* At 20.0 feet...High water is noticed along the river.  Flood waters
  in a few backyards.  A few roads are flooded.

* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by tomorrow late evening and
  continue to rise to near 15.0 feet by Friday evening.
* At 16.3 feet...County Line Road south of Gosport begins to flood.

* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 21.3 feet by
  Sunday early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
  Thursday morning.
* At 21.0 feet...Eastern portion of CR 100 S in Greene County floods
  leading to Plummer.  Flooding covers all low bottomlands

* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and
  continue to rise to near 15.5 feet by Sunday morning.  The river
  will fall below flood stage by Wednesday before midnight.
* At 16.0 feet...Higher bottomlands begin to flood.

  The White River at Edwardsport.
* UNTIL Saturday January 28.
* At  7:00 AM Wednesday the stage was 16.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 18.6 feet by
  early Monday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Friday
  early afternoon.
* At 18.6 feet...During June 2010 and March 2011 high water...INDOT
  closed SR 358 between SR 67 at Edwardsport to SR 57 at Plainville.
  SR 358 floods on the east side of the river between the levees.

* UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
* At 11:30 AM Wednesday the stage was 17.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 20.0 feet by
  Wednesday early afternoon then begin falling.
* At 20.5 feet...County Road 250 West from State Road 56 floods and
  blocks the vehicle access to Dodge City.  During the March 2008
  flood the river remained above this level from late afternoon March
  19 through April 9.   As mid-March 2011 high water was receding...
  SR 257 south of Washington reopened when Shoals was at 10.5 feet
  and falling steadily for the past 2 days.

  The White River at Hazleton.
* UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is forecast to have a maximum value of 20.7
  feet Wednesday early afternoon.
* At 20.0 feet...Most of the low bottomlands flood. Flooding begins in
  higher bottomlands. High water affects any residents in Pottsville
  river cabins. Pottsville Road...North C Street on river side of
  railroad tracks and Catt Street near U. S. Highway 41 are flooded.
  Water is near or starting on Giro Road in the vicinity of submerged
  Pottsville Road. Oil stripped fields flood. Flood gates must be
  installed at Hazleton.

* At 11:30 AM Wednesday the stage was 14.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 14.9 feet by this
  evening then begin falling.
* At 16.0 feet...Lowland flooding is in progress.  Flood waters near
  SR 225 between Old SR 25 and Battleground.  Warren CR 350 N near
  Black Rock Preserve and Tippecanoe CR 950 W in the Wabash Bottoms,
  Janssen Tract area may be impassable.  Fort Ouiatenon grounds begin
  to flood.  Flooding at the Grandville Public Access site.

  Saturday morning. The river will fall below flood stage early
  Thursday morning.
* At 21.0 feet...Lanes to river residences west of South River Road
  south of Covington flooded.  Sandhill Road at Mud Run just
  northeast of Covington begins to flood.  Extensive lowland flooding
  in progress.  Higher bottomlands flood.

  bottomlands begin to flood.  Water backs up most local tributaries.
  River water is at the top of some private levees.  Lowest county
  roads begin to flood.  Parke CR 75 W begins to flood.

* At 19.5 feet...Pottsville Street just northwest of Terre Haute is
  flooded.  Lowland flooding in progress with several river roads
  flooded in Clark County Illinois.

* At 22.0 feet...River cabins become isolated.  Basement flooding
  begins in Hutsonville.  Extensive agricultural flooding is in
  progress.  Higher Illinois rural roads in eastern Clark and
  Crawford counties flood.

* FROM SUNDAY MORNING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
* At 11:45 AM Wednesday the stage was 14.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late Sunday morning and
  continue to rise to near 18.2 feet by Friday morning.
* At 18.0 feet...Agricultural lands and some oil fields flood.
  Several township roads about 1.25 miles south of St. Francesville
  and River Road between Billett Road and Lincoln Memorial Bridge in
  Lawrence County are flooded.  Extensive flooding of Kimmell Park at
  Vincennes.

* FROM LATE THURSDAY NIGHT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
* At 10:00 AM Wednesday the stage was 16.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by early Friday morning and
  continue to rise to near 22.3 feet by early Saturday morning.
* At 22.0 feet...Flood waters begin to affect residents of East Mt.
  Carmel, Indiana. Fifth Street that parallels river closes.  Twin
  restaurant along the river also closes.  Several local river roads
  flood.
