Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
245 PM EDT Fri Mar 24 2017

.DISCUSSION...With high pressure centered off the Mid-Atlantic coast,
an onshore flow will bring an increase in low-level moisture through
the daytime Saturday. A generally weak pressure gradient will support
poor dispersion this evening through mid-Saturday morning.
The nighttime inversion will develop by 8 PM this evening under
generally clear skies. Some cloudiness and patchy light fog are
expected to develop late tonight with the increased moisture.

The inversion will break up around 9 AM Saturday. Surface winds
will be from the southeast less than 5 mph after daybreak,
then become south-southeast near 10 mph by noon. Transport winds
will become south at 10 to 15 mph. Relative humidities will drop
to near 40 percent in the afternoon.

Scattered showers and possible thunderstorms are expected late Saturday
night into Sunday afternoon with upper-level energy crossing the area
from the west.
