FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HUNTSVILLE AL
515 AM CDT WED JUL 29 2015

.DISCUSSION...
ONE MORE DAY OF OPPRESSIVE HEAT AND HUMIDITY IS EXPECTED ACROSS
THE CENTRAL TENNESSEE VALLEY TODAY...BEFORE THE RIDGE OF HIGH
PRESSURE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RECENT HEAT WAVE RETREATS WESTWARD.
THIS WILL ALLOW A SURFACE COLD FRONT TO SLIDE SOUTHWARD THROUGH
THE REGION ON THURSDAY...BRINGING A MUCH DRIER AIRMASS INTO THE
AREA BY THURSDAY NIGHT. IN THE MEANTIME...HEAT INDEX VALUES
TODAY WILL ONCE AGAIN PEAK IN THE 105-110 DEGREE RANGE ACROSS
NW/NC ALABAMA AND A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS
EVENING. SCATTERED SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE FROM
TODAY-THURSDAY...WITH PERHAPS A GREATER COVERAGE ON THURSDAY AS
THE FRONT PUSHES THROUGH THE REGION. SMOKE DISPERSION WILL BE
GOOD BOTH TODAY AND TOMORROW...WITH TRANSPORT FLOW AROUND 10 MPH
AND MIXING HEIGHTS IN THE 6-7 KFT RANGE. A GUSTY NORTHEAST WIND
WILL CONTINUE TO PUSH DRIER AIR INTO THE REGION FRIDAY AND
SATURDAY...WITH AFTERNOON RH VALUES DROPPING INTO THE 35-40
PERCENT RANGE BOTH DAYS. THIS DRIER AIRMASS WILL GRADUALLY
MODIFY DURING THE REMAINDER OF THE FORECAST PERIOD...WITH RAIN
CHANCES NOT RETURNING UNTIL TUESDAY.
