Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NW Oregon and SW Washington
National Weather Service Portland OR
241 PM PDT Sat Jun 24 2017

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...High pressure aloft over the region
tonight will shift east of the Cascades Sunday initiating a marine
push that will spread inland Sunday through Monday. After a warm
and dry night tonight, the push will bring some improvement to
temperatures and humidity to the Coast and the South Willamette
Valley Sunday, then cooler weather region-wide Monday through mid
week.

.DISCUSSION...A strong upper level ridge of high pressure over the
Pacific Northwest tonight will move east of the Cascades Sunday.
This will shift the thermal induced surface trough of low pressure
that was along the coast Saturday, inland Sunday then east of the
Cascades Sunday night. Mid level Haines 6 conditions are likely
to develop tonight and continue through Sunday. Marine air will
bring cooling to the coast Sunday, and slightly cooler
temperatures to the south Willamette Valley, while elsewhere
temperatures in the interior will remain hot. By Sunday evening a
marine push is expected to be underway for most of the forecast
area, with cooler air returning for Monday. As the upper ridge
gives way to a trough Sunday night and Monday, the air mass will
tend to destabilize some. This will lead to a slight chance for
thunderstorms over the Oregon Cascades Sunday night and Monday. A
more stable and cooler pattern with onshore flow will be in place
through mid week.
