Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NW Oregon and SW Washington
National Weather Service Portland OR
835 AM PDT Fri Apr 28 2017

...BRIEF DRYING TREND THROUGH SATURDAY...
...ANOTHER FRONTAL SYSTEM SATURDAY NIGHT...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...High pressure will slowly build over
the area today, which will mark the start of a brief warming and
drying trend. The upper ridge moves over the area Saturday, followed
by another weak front Saturday night. Warmer and drier weather
returns for the middle and latter half of next week.

.DISCUSSION...High pressure well offshore shifts toward the coast
today, for the start of a brief drying trend. The ridge moves inland
Saturday, which will allow slightly above-normal daytime
temperatures. However, the ridge will be short-lived as models agree
another frontal system moves through the area Saturday night and
Sunday morning. The last couple models runs have sped up the timing
of this next front. Latest guidance shows precipitation reaching the
north coast zones as early as late Saturday afternoon. Moderate
onshore low-level flow accompanies the front for breezy to windy
conditions in the Central Columbia River Gorge Sunday. Slightly
below-normal daytime temperatures can be expected the first part of
next week with continued onshore flow. However, longer range models
show a return to warmer and drier conditions around the middle of
next week. However, latest guidance is hinting at a weaker ridge
compared to model runs of the previous couple days.
