FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
256 PM PDT WED AUG 20 2014

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH WILL BE OVER THE
PACIFIC NORTHWEST THROUGH MUCH OF THE WEEK. DAYTIME TEMPERATURES
WILL REMAIN NEAR TO A LITTLE BELOW AUGUST NORMALS THROUGH FRIDAY.
MODERATE TO STRONG ONSHORE LOW-LEVEL FLOW WILL MAINTAIN BREEZY
CONDITIONS OVER RIDGETOPS AND THROUGH THE COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE FOR
THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

.DISCUSSION...STRONG ONSHORE FLOW PERSISTS THIS AFTERNOON WITH HIGH
PRESSURE OFFSHORE AND LOWER PRESSURE OVER THE MID-COLUMBIA BASIN.
IN THE LARGER PICTURE...A LARGE UPPER LEVEL TROUGH IS SINKING INTO
THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST FROM BRITISH COLUMBIA...AND WILL LINGER INTO
FRIDAY. A UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM MAY
BRING A FEW SHOWERS TO THE DISTRICT THURSDAY NIGHT OR FRIDAY.
EITHER WAY TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN NEAR OR A LITTLE BELOW NORMAL
THROUGH FRIDAY. THIS UPPER TROUGH WILL PUSH EAST INTO THE ROCKIES
THIS WEEKEND...WITH UPPER LEVEL RIDGING MOVING IN FROM THE PACIFIC.
THIS WILL TEND TO RESULT IN WARMER AND DRIER CONDITIONS FOR THE
WEEKEND...ESPECIALLY IF A THERMAL TROUGH BEGINS TO DEVELOP OVER
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AND NOSE NORTH TOWARD THE SOUTHERN OREGON
COAST. WEAGLE
