Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NW Oregon and SW Washington
National Weather Service Portland OR
111 PM PDT Sat Aug 19 2017

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...Near-normal temperatures and humidities
continue through the weekend. Terrain-driven winds will give way
to west/northwest winds each afternoon and evening. Drier
conditions return starting Monday with the potential for
afternoon thunderstorms near the Lane County Cascade crest Tuesday
and Wednesday late afternoons and evenings.

.DISCUSSION...Weak to moderate onshore flow will continue for most
of the Pacific Northwest through the next 7 days. During
the afternoons and evenings, gusty winds are expected in Coast
Range gaps and the Columbia River Gorge as onshore flow
strengthens. This afternoon in particular, expect gusty winds in
the southern third of the Willamette Valley, south of Salem, and
the adjacent areas of the east slopes of the Coast Range and the
Cascade foothills. Expect winds to coincide with minimum RH
values briefly around 25 percent. Warmer and drier conditions
return starting Monday as an upper level ridge redevelops across
the region. Haines 5 conditions may develop again Monday as
instability again increases. There will be some potential for
thunderstorms near the Cascade crest Tuesday and Wednesday late
afternoons and evenings as mid-level moisture increases,
mainly in the Willamette NF. Bowen
