BULLETIN IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS
TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE CHUGACH NATIONAL FOREST
AVALANCHE CENTER 6AM FEB 14 2017.

THE CHUGACH NATIONAL FOREST AVALANCHE CENTER IN GIRDWOOD AK HAS
ISSUED A BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE WARNING.

* TIMING...IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TODAY, FEB 14, TO 6 AM TOMORROW,
  FEB 15

* AFFECTED AREA...FOR TURNAGAIN PASS AND THE KENAI MOUNTAINS AND
  WESTERN CHUGACH MOUNTAINS.

* AVALANCHE DANGER...THE AVALANCHE DANGER IS HIGH TODAY AND IS
  EXPECTED TO LAST THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* REASON...ABOVE FREEZING TEMPERATURES, HEAVY SNOW & RAIN
  COMBINED WITH WIND WILL LIKELY CREATE WIDESPREAD AREAS OF
  UNSTABLE SNOW. BOTH HUMAN TRIGGERED AND NATURAL AVALANCHES ARE
  LIKELY ON SLOPES STEEPER THAN 30 DEGREES.

* PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS BACKCOUNTRY TRAVELERS
  SHOULD STAY OFF OF AND OUT FROM UNDERNEATH SLOPES STEEPER THAN
  30 DEGREES. AVALANCHES MAY RUN LONG DISTANCES. TRAVEL IN
  AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT Recommended.

SIMILAR AVALANCHE DANGER MAY EXIST AT LOCATIONS OUTSIDE THE COVERAGE
AREA OF ANY AVALANCHE CENTER. CHECK WWW.AVALANCHE.ORG FOR YOUR
