ICE HAS BEEN REPORTED FROM ST ANTHONY FALLS MINNESOTA ALL THE WAY
DOWNSTREAM TO LOCK AND DAM 15 NEAR ROCK ISLAND IOWA. SATELLITE
IMAGERY ON NOV 21 CONFIRMED ICE COVER DOWN TO AROUND LD15. ICE
THICKNESSES RANGED FROM 1 INCH AT LOCK AND DAMS 1...2...AND 15 TO

CURRENT CONDITIONS AS OF 11/25/14:
SEE THE COMMENTS ABOVE FOR DETAILS.

OUTLOOK FOR NEXT 7 DAYS:
AIR TEMPERATURES WERE GENERALLY 10 TO 25 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL LAST
WEEK WHICH LED TO SIGNIFICANT ICE FORMATION AND GROWTH FROM LD1 TO
LD15. A TEMPORARY WARM UP THIS PAST WEEKEND SLOWED ICE GROWTH AND
CAUSED SOME MELTING AND BREAK UP. A RETURN TO BELOW NORMAL AIR
TEMPERATURES IS FORECAST FOR THIS WEEK WITH ANOTHER BRIEF WARM
UP ON TAP FOR THIS COMING WEEKEND. IN OUR REGION...LOW TEMPERATURES
THIS MORNING RANGED FROM 4 DEGREES AT BEMIDJI MN TO 10 DEGREES IN
MINNEAPOLIS MN TO 17 DEGREES AT LD15 TO 30 DEGREES AT ST LOUIS.

AIR TEMPERATURES WILL GENERALLY REMAIN BELOW FREEZING NORTH OF
LD 15 OR 16 THIS WEEK. TEMPERATURES SHOULD RISE ABOVE FREEZING ON
FRIDAY ALL THE WAY NORTH TO LA CROSSE WI AND ON SATURDAY ALL THE
WAY TO ST CLOUD MN. HIGH TEMPERATURES SHOULD BE IN THE 40S AND
50S IN ST LOUIS ON FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.

BASED ON THESE FACTORS...WE ANTICIPATE THAT ICE DEVELOPMENT
WILL RESUME THIS WEEK...MOSTLY NORTH OF LD 15 OR 16. ICE
DEVELOPMENT AND GROWTH SHOULD SLOW DOWN THIS COMING WEEKEND IN
THE NORTH...AND WE SHOULD MELT SOME ICE IN THE SOUTH...
ESPECIALLY DURING WINDY PERIODS.

ACCORDING TO NEWS SOURCES...THIS YEAR WAS THE EARLIEST END TO
SHIPPING ON THE UPPER MISSISSIPPI RIVER IN 45 YEARS.

THE NEXT ICE STATEMENT WILL BE RELEASED ON TUESDAY..DEC 2 2014.
