THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY HAS ISSUED A LAKE EFFECT
SNOW WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THURSDAY TO 7 AM EST
FRIDAY. THE LAKE EFFECT SNOW WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* LOCATIONS...NORTHERN HERKIMER COUNTY.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 8 TO 14 INCHES. THE HIGHER
  TOTALS WILL BE FROM ROUTE 28 AND OLD FORGE NORTHWARD.

* TIMING...THURSDAY LATE MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY MID MORNING.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOWBANDS AND GUSTY WINDS WILL LEAD
  TO BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW WITH NEAR WHITEOUT CONDITIONS.
  ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED AND TREACHEROUS TO TRAVEL ON.

* WINDS...WEST 10 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE LOWER TO MID 20S.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF LAKE-
EFFECT SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR
IMPOSSIBLE. LAKE-EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS TYPICALLY ALIGN THEMSELVES
IN BANDS AND WILL LIKELY BE INTENSE ENOUGH TO DROP 1 TO SEVERAL
INCHES OF SNOW PER HOUR FOR SEVERAL HOURS. VISIBILITIES VARY
GREATLY AND CAN DROP TO ZERO WITHIN MINUTES.  TRAVEL IS STRONGLY
DISCOURAGED. COMMERCE COULD BE SEVERELY IMPACTED. IF YOU MUST
TRAVEL...KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...FOOD...AND WATER IN YOUR
VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 6 TO 10 INCHES IN WESTERN
  HAMILTON COUNTY...ESPECIALLY WEST OF RAQUETTE LAKE AND NORTH OF
  ROUTE 28.

* TIMING...THURSDAY LATE MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY MID MORNING.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOWBANDS AND GUSTY WINDS WILL LEAD
