URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...Rain changing to snow tonight...lingering into Wednesday...

.A secondary disturbance will change rain over to snow
tonight...then linger into at least Wednesday morning for much of
northern and central Montana. Snow could then continue the
remainder of Wednesday...possibly into Thursday...with some rain
mixed in at times.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO
MIDNIGHT MST WEDNESDAY NIGHT...

The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for periods of snow...which is in effect from
midnight tonight to midnight MST Wednesday night. the Winter Storm
Watch is no longer in effect.

* Locations...Havre, Big Sandy, Fort Benton, Shelby, Chester,
  Conrad, Chinook, Lewistown, and Lewistown Divide.

* Timing...Rain will mix with and become snow tonight.
  Snow...moderate at times...may then linger into Wednesday
  morning. Periods of snow...possibly mixed with rain...are then
  possible through the evening Wednesday. More snow is possible
  into Thursday...however...confidence remains uncertain as to
  exact location of accumulating snow.

* Snow Accumulations...3 to 6 inches...with some locally higher
  amounts possible.

* Winds...North 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

* Temperatures...In the upper 20s.

* Impacts...Visibility may be reduced to less than 1 mile at times
  in falling snow. Roads may become snow-covered and slick. Risks
  to young livestock are possible.

The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for periods of snow...which is in effect until 6
PM MST Wednesday. the Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

* Locations...Browning, Logan Pass, Marias Pass, and Cut Bank.

* Timing...An initial round of snow will briefly diminish late
this afternoon. More snow is then possible this evening...then
continue through the day Wednesday. A break in the snow is then
possible sometime Wednesday afternoon or evening. Snow could
then return Thursday...although confidence remains low to
moderate at this point.

* Snow Accumulations...6 to 9 inches.

* Winds...Northwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* Temperatures...In the lower 20s.

* Impacts...Visibility may be reduced to less than 1 mile at times
  in falling snow. Roads may become snow-covered and slick. Risks
  to young livestock are possible.
