Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
953 PM EDT Fri Apr 26 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...Lake Superior is currently situated between a broad
30.5 inch high over New England and a 29.3 inch low over the
Northern Plains. The low will track northeast, weakening to 29.6
inches by the time it reaches northeast Lake Superior on Saturday
evening. On Sunday, 30.4 inch high pressure will build over
northern Ontario as a 29.6 inch low pressure lifts northeast
across the Central Plains. This low will continue to track
northeast, crossing western Lake Superior late in the day Monday
at 29.7 inches. As the low moves over northern Ontario Monday
night, a weak 30.0 inch ridge will shift east across the
Mississippi Valley. On Tuesday, the ridge will shift toward the
Appalachians as the next low pressure of 29.5 inches tracks from
North Dakota to far northern Minnesota, passing north of Lake
Superior Wednesday.
