NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MARQUETTE MI
556 AM EDT THU MAY 5 2016

...DRY AND TRENDING MUCH WARMER THROUGH FRIDAY...THEN SCATTERED
SHOWERS FRIDAY NIGHT AND COOLER AGAIN ON SATURDAY...

.DISCUSSION...DRY CONDITIONS WILL PERSIST THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS...
AND TEMPERATURES WILL SPIKE WELL ABOVE NORMAL BY FRIDAY AHEAD OF A COLD
FRONT DUE TO CROSS THE AREA FRIDAY NIGHT. TEMPERATURES BY FRIDAY WILL
REACH INTO THE MID TO UPPER 80S ACROSS THE INTERIOR WEST...WITH MINIMUM
RH VALUES BOTH TODAY AND FRIDAY DROPPING INTO THE LOWER TO MID 20S.
WINDS WILL BE RELATIVELY LIGHT TODAY WITH A SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE
OVER THE AREA. HOWEVER BY FRIDAY...SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE
TO 10 TO 20 MPH AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT APPROACHING FROM SOUTH CENTRAL
CANADA AND THE NORTHERN PLAINS. THE DRY CONDITIONS AND INCREASED WINDS
WILL LEAD TO INCREASED WILDFIRE POTENTIAL FOR FRIDAY. THE PASSING COLD
FRONT WILL BRING SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS INTO THE
AREA FRIDAY NIGHT...THEN USHER IN COOLER AND POSSIBLY BREEZY CONDITIONS
FOR SATURDAY. TEMPERATURES WILL AGAIN MODERATE INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK WITH
MOSTLY DRY CONDITIONS EXPECTED.
