...RAIN TONIGHT FOLLOWED BY A QUICK TRANSITION TO SNOW WITH MODERATE
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED MONDAY AND MONDAY NIGHT...

A QUICKLY DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL TRACK ACROSS THE UPPER
GREAT LAKES TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT. PRECIPITATION WILL FALL AS
RAIN ACROSS ALL OF UPPER MICHIGAN THIS EVENING...WITH THE HEAVIEST
RAINFALL OVER THE EAST HALF OF UPPER MICHIGAN. AS THE LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM PASSES NEAR THE STRAITS OF MACKINAC EARLY MONDAY MORNING...COLD
AIR WILL FILTER ACROSS WESTERN UPPER MICHIGAN AND TRANSITION THE RAIN
TO SNOW. SNOW IS EXPECTED AT IRONWOOD AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT...AT
IRON MOUNTAIN AND MARQUETTE BY LATE MONDAY MORNING...AND AT NEWBERRY
BY LATE MONDAY AFTERNOON. ONCE THE SNOW BEGINS IT WILL BE VERY WET
AND FALL MODERATELY AT TIMES...CREATING SLUSHY CONDITIONS ON AREA
ROADWAYS. THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING COMMUTE ON MONDAY WILL LIKELY BE
AFFECTED. ADDITIONALLY...STRONG NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS OF 20 TO
30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE INTO MONDAY EVENING
RESULTING IN BLOWING SNOW AND LAKE ENHANCED SNOW NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR.

THE SNOW WILL GRADUALLY DIMINISH LATE MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY
MORNING. AT THIS TIME...TOTAL SNOW AMOUNTS ON MONDAY AND MONDAY
NIGHT OF 3 TO 5 INCHES ARE EXPECTED OVER MUCH OF UPPER MICHIGAN WITH
HIGHER AMOUNTS OVER MUCH OF WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL UPPER MICHIGAN
DUE TO LAKE ENHANCED SNOW.
