Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
519 PM EDT Wed Apr 17 2024

.DISCUSSION...
Front has lifted back Nward earlier this morning, ushering in broad
warm southwesterly winds across the region this afternoon, highest
gusts of 15+ kts for coastal areas. RHs trending up as temps fall,
lowest RHs currently along and west of Highway 17, observed 40-45%.
A few spotty showers with minimal rainfall accumulations (less than
0.05") are possible overnight, although chances are low (20-35%).

MinRHs in low 30s away from the immediate coast Thurs. Werly
background winds near 10kt keeps seabreeze pinned along the Crystal
Coast; Nern sea/sound/river breezes showing more penetration
inland. Ample mixing in the afternoon through the lowest 5kft of the
atmosphere, but weaker low level flow will keep gusts less than 20
kts.
