Weather Summary for Portions of the Central Plains
National Weather Service Hastings NE
948 PM CDT Tue May 7 2024

Focusing exclusively on these next couple of days across our
central/south central Nebraska and north central Kansas coverage
area...here are the weather highlights. First of all...and most
importantly...we will continue to catch a much-needed break from any
threat of severe thunderstorms or heavy rainfall. In fact...MOST
places will be dry MOST of the time. That being said...it is not a
guaranteed dry forecast either...as both Wednesday and especially
Thursday will feature chances for fairly spotty...isolated to
scattered showers and a few weak thunderstorms...mainly during the
afternoon hours. On Wednesday...any such activity should mainly
focus north of Interstate 80 in Nebraska...but on Thursday some of
this activity is more favored to extend south of I-80 and possibly
down into our north central Kansas area too. Again...we are not
talking widespread...soaking rains...but a few spotty...brief
downpours are possible. Otherwise...both Wednesday and Thursday will
feature fairly similar...and very seasonable high temperatures
mainly between the mid 60s and lower 70s. Both days will also be
rather breezy...but not terribly windy...with sustained speeds
mainly 10 to 20 MPH and gusts up to around 25 MPH.
