There will also be the chance of widely scattered showers and thunderstorms each afternoon and evening, namely across northwest Connecticut and western Massachusetts. Weak high pressure will build over the region on Friday bringing slightly cooler temperatures. Winds will be light and variable with sea breezes developing along the coasts. Area main stem river levels are expected to remain nearly steady over the next 24 to 48 hours.
