SYNOPSIS...

SEPTEMBER PRECIPITATION WAS ABOVE TO WELL NORMAL ACROSS NEW
MEXICO...ESPECIALLY ACROSS SOUTHERN AREAS. STATEWIDE AVERAGE
WAS 190 PERCENT OF NORMAL.

NEW MEXICO PRECIPITATION FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR SO FAR...JANUARY
THROUGH SEPTEMBER...WAS AT 98 PERCENT OF NORMAL...THE 62ND DRIEST
ON RECORD.

FOR THE JUST COMPLETED 2014 WATER YEAR...OCTOBER 2013 THROUGH
SEPTEMBER 2014 AVERAGE STATEWIDE PRECIPITATION WAS 93 PERCENT
OF NORMAL. THIS WAS THE 49TH DRIEST WATER YEAR ON RECORD SO FAR.

A FEW PUBLIC RECREATION AREAS ARE CLOSED...IN AREAS WHERE LARGE
WILD FIRES BURNED IN THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS.

CLIMATE SUMMARY...

THE AVERAGE STATEWIDE TEMPERATURE FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR SO FAR
IS 1.8 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THIS MAKES 2014 TIED FOR THE 11TH
WARMEST FIRST NINE MONTHS OF ANY YEAR ON RECORD. THE 2014 WATER
YEAR AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 1.3 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THIS WAS
TIED FOR THE 17TH WARMEST WATER YEAR ON RECORD.

PRECIPITATION/TEMPERATURE OUTLOOKS...

NOVEMBER 2014 FAVORS ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION WHILE THE CHANCES
FOR ABOVE...NEAR OR BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES ARE ABOUT THE SAME.
THE WINTER OUTLOOK FOR NEW MEXICO FROM DECEMBER THROUGH FEBRUARY
