SYNOPSIS...

THE AVERAGE STATEWIDE PRECIPITATION FOR JUNE 2015 WAS 1.75 INCHES
WHICH WAS 0.58 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. THIS WAS THE 25TH WETTEST JUNE
ON RECORD...AT 150 PERCENT OF NORMAL.

THE FIRST THREE MONTHS OF 2015 SAW PERIODIC BURSTS OF PRECIPITATION
OVER THE STATE...BUT OVERALL STILL ENDED UP ABOVE NORMAL. JANUARY
TO MARCH WAS THE 17TH WETTEST ON RECORD...AT 145 PERCENT OF NORMAL.
THE SPRING MONTHS TURNED MORE ACTIVE...ESPECIALLY BY LATE APRIL.
THE APRIL TO JUNE PERIOD WAS THE 6TH WETTEST ON RECORD...AT 170
PERCENT OF NORMAL. MAY WAS AN IMPRESSIVE STANDOUT PERIOD FOR HEAVY
PRECIPITATION...RANKING THE 8TH WETTEST ON RECORD. JUNE WAS ALSO
VERY ACTIVE FOR A NORMALLY DRY AND HOT PERIOD...COMING IN AT 25TH
WETTEST ON RECORD. THE MORE TYPICAL CONVECTIVE PATTERN OF SHOWERS
AND STORMS OVER THE AREA DELIVERED MORE SPOTTY HEAVY RAINFALL...
HOWEVER TOTALS IN MANY LOCATIONS WERE STILL IMPRESSIVE FOR JUNE.

FOR THE JANUARY THROUGH JUNE 2015 YEAR SO FAR...AVERAGE STATEWIDE
PRECIPITATION IS AN IMPRESSIVE 160 PERCENT OF NORMAL...THE 4TH
WETTEST ON RECORD THROUGH THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF THE YEAR.

THE 2015 WATER YEAR IS WELL PAST THE HALFWAY POINT. THE OCTOBER
2014 THROUGH JUNE 2015 AVERAGE STATEWIDE PRECIPITATION ROSE TO 134
PERCENT OF NORMAL...THE 17TH WETTEST WATER YEAR ON RECORD.

DESPITE THE ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION...JUNE 2015 WAS WARMER THAN
NORMAL WITH AN AVERAGE STATEWIDE TEMPERATURE OF 71.5 DEGREES...WHICH
WAS 2.3 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THIS WAS THE 22ND WARNEST JUNE ON
RECORD. THROUGH THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF 2015 THE AVERAGE STATEWIDE
TEMPERATURE OF 51.2 DEGREES RANKS AS THE 15TH WARMEST ON RECORD.

PRECIPITATION/TEMPERATURE OUTLOOKS...

THE NOAA CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER OUTLOOK FOR NEW MEXICO FOR THE
REST OF THE SUMMER AND EARLY FALL...AUGUST THROUGH OCTOBER...FAVORS
ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION AND BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE
ENTIRE STATE.

RESERVOIR STORAGE REMAINS WELL BELOW NORMAL AT NEARLY ALL LAKES IN
NEW MEXICO...WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SEVERAL STORAGE LOCATIONS ALONG
THE PECOS RIVER BASIN. THE STATEWIDE AVERAGE IS JUST 31 PERCENT OF
CAPACITY AS OF JULY 1ST.
