SYNOPSIS...

MARCH PRECIPITATION WAS BELOW NORMAL ACROSS NEW MEXICO WITH A
STATEWIDE AVERAGE OF 64 PERCENT OF NORMAL.

NEW MEXICO PRECIPITATION FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR SO FAR...JANUARY
THROUGH MARCH...WAS ONLY 34 PERCENT...RANGED FROM 42 PERCENT IN
THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS CLIMATE DIVISION TO 22 PERCENT IN THE
CENTRAL VALLEY CLIMATE DIVISION. THIS IS THE 3RD DRIEST START
OF ANY YEAR ON RECORD.

THE 2014 WATER YEAR SO FAR...OCTOBER 2013 THROUGH MARCH
2014...AVERAGE STATEWIDE PRECIPITATION WAS 52 PERCENT OF NORMAL.
THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS CLIMATE DIVISION HAD THE HIGHEST AVERAGE AT
72 PERCENT OF NORMAL WHILE THE NORTHEAST PLAINS HAD THE LOWEST AT
34 PERCENT.

WILD FIRES BURNED IN THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS.

THE AVERAGE STATEWIDE TEMPERATURE FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR SO FAR IS
41.4 DEGREES...WHICH IS 3.1 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THIS MAKES 2014
TIED FOR 11TH WARMEST FIRST THREE MONTHS OF ANY YEAR ON RECORD.
THE WATER YEAR AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IS 1.5 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL AND
TIED FOR THE 23RD WARMEST ON RECORD.

PRECIPITATION/TEMPERATURE OUTLOOKS...

THE NOAA CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER OUTLOOK FOR NEW MEXICO FROM
MAY THROUGH JULY 2014 IS WEIGHTED TOWARD WARMER THAN NORMAL
CONDITIONS...WHILE ODDS FAVOR ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR
