SYNOPSIS...

AFTER A VERY DRY NOVEMBER...A MORE ACTIVE STORM TRACK TYPICAL OF DECEMBER
IMPACTED NORTHERN AND CENTRAL NEW MEXICO. PRECIPITATION WAS SLIGHTLY ABOVE
NORMAL ACROSS THE STATE...PARTICULARLY FAVORING CENTRAL AND WESTERN AREAS.
THE STATEWIDE AVERAGE WAS 109 PERCENT OF NORMAL.

THE AVERAGE STATEWIDE PRECIPITATION FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2014 WAS 0.67 INCHES
BELOW NORMAL. THIS MAKES 2014 THE 52ND DRIEST ON RECORD...SO ESSENTIALLY IN
THE MIDDLE OF THE PACK.

THE 2015 WATER YEAR IS STILL JUST GETTING STARTED. OCTOBER 2014 THROUGH DECEMBER
2014 AVERAGE STATEWIDE PRECIPITATION SO FAR WAS 83 PERCENT OF NORMAL...THE
56TH DRIEST ON RECORD.

RESERVOIR STORAGE REMAINS WELL BELOW NORMAL AT NEARLY ALL LAKES IN
NEW MEXICO...WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SEVERAL STORAGE LOCATIONS ALONG
THE PECOS RIVER BASIN. THE STATEWIDE AVERAGE IS JUST 23 PERCENT OF
CAPACITY AS OF JANUARY FIRST.
