SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL GRADUALLY INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND
INTENSITY ACROSS THE WESTERN HIGHLANDS THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE
MORNING INTO THE EARLY AFTERNOON. THE FAVORED AREAS WILL BE OVER
THE HIGHEST TERRAIN SUCH AS THE SAN MATEO RANGES AS WELL AS ALONG
THE CHUSKA MOUNTAINS AND CONTINENTAL DIVIDE. STORMS WILL BE SLOW
MOVING AND DRIFT TOWARDS THE SOUTHWEST. HEAVY RAIN AND FREQUENT
CLOUD TO LIGHTNING WILL BE THE MAIN CONCERNS WITH THE STRONGER
STORMS THROUGH 2 PM. CANT RULE OUT PEA SIZED HAIL AND WIND GUSTS TO
35 MPH. RAIN FOOTPRINTS UP TO 0.75 INCHES SHOULD ACCOMPANY SOME OF
THE STORMS AND SHOULD INCREASE AS THE AFTERNOON PROGRESSES.

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO FIRE UP ALONG THE CENTRAL
MOUNTAINS FROM THE NORTHERN SACRAMENTOS NORTHWARD TO THE SANGRE DE
CRISTOS. STORMS WILL ALSO DEVELOP OVER THE JEMEZ AND LOWER SAN JUAN
MOUNTAINS AS WELL. THE ADJACENT HIGH PLAINS WILL ALSO SEE STORM
ACTIVITY AS THE AFTERNOON PROGRESSES. INITIAL STORM MOVEMENT WILL
BE TOWARDS THE SOUTH/SOUTHWEST BUT AT A SLOW DRIFT. DUE TO THE SLOW
MOVING NATURE TO THE STORMS...HEAVY RAIN WILL BE THE MAIN CONCERN.
AMOUNTS UP TO 1 INCH WILL INITIALLY BE FOUND WITH THE STRONGEST
CELLS THROUGH 2 PM. FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING...PEA SIZED
HAIL AND WIND GUSTS TO 40 MPH WILL ALSO ACCOMPANY THE STRONGER
STORMS THROUGH 2 PM.
