...STRENGTHENING WINDS TODAY...

.Round two for strong winds will impact northern and central New
Mexico this afternoon through around sundown. The strongest
sustained winds should be felt across the eastern half of the area
with gusts as high as 50 mph. The ingredients to the strong wind
include an approaching Pacific trough, surface cold
frontal passage, strengthening surface low and very deep
atmospheric mixing. Linger strong winds may continue during the
overnight across some higher elevation areas as well as areas just
to the east of the central mountains.

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 9 PM MDT
THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 9 PM MDT
this evening.

* LOCATION...East slopes of the central mountains eastward to the
  Texas state line and large portions of Socorro county.

* WINDS...West to southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts to
  around 50 mph.

* TIMING...This afternoon through sundown with peak speeds late
  afternoon.

* VISIBILITY...Locally reduced down to 4 miles in dust prone
  areas such as dry lake beds and construction sites.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Interstate 40 between Santa Rosa to Tucumcari
  will be susceptible to strong cross winds. Similarly to
  Interstate 25 late day between Las Vegas to Raton Port of Entry.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.
