...STRONG TO EXTREME WINDS CONTINUING OVER MUCH OF CENTRAL TO
EASTERN NEW MEXICO TODAY...

.A very dynamic low pressure system will continue moving to the
east of New Mexico today. Damaging winds with gusts of 60 to
around 75 mph will rake much of northeast and east central New
Mexico with strong winds elsewhere. Areas of reduced visibilities
in blowing dust are possible.

...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MDT THIS
EVENING...

* LOCATION...Portions of the central mountain chain, adjacent
  eastern and central highlands and northeast and east central
  plains of New Mexico.

* WINDS...Northwest with sustained speeds of 35 to 50 mph. Gusts
  ranging from 60 to 75 mph are expected.

* TIMING...Winds will remain strong to severe through the late
  afternoon and will decrease in speed around sunset.

* VISIBILITY...Dropping to 1 to 3 miles at times in dust prone
  locations such as recently plowed agricultural fields.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Unsecured objects may become airborne and
  power lines may topple over. Power outages will be possible.
  Cross winds will be dangerous, especially for high profile
  vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remember, A High Wind Warning means damaging winds are imminent
or highly likely. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or
gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

* WINDS...Northwest to north sustained at 25 to 35 mph with gusts
  to around 55 mph.

* TIMING...Winds will remain strong through the late afternoon
  and will decrease in speed around dusk.

* VISIBILITY...Dropping to 2 to 5 miles at times in dust prone
  locations such as recently plowed agricultural fields.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Unsecured objects may become airborne. Cross
  winds will pose difficult driving conditions, especially for
  high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.
